THE PLOT:

While on a trip cross country six friends get stuck in an abandoned town with seemly unfriendly people, except the mechanic. But there is an unknown killer lurking in the house of wax and turning their friends into wax statues.

The two siblings learn a terrifying secret about the town and that they are next on the chopping block unless they can find a way to escape.

ZEDD'S OPINION:

Okay, here's the low down on HOUSE OF WAX. I am a big fan of the classic HOUSE OF WAX as some of you may already know. But I am not that disappointed with this remake. I got to admit I was stunned when the house of wax was a house of wax, literally. I feel that was the most unique aspect of this otherwise formula slasher movie. There was some aspects I saw coming a mile away and other aspects that surprised me. This pales to the VINCENT PRICE classic, but it is unique enough in story and character develop to stand out on it's own. The new house of wax is a scary and gore masterpiece of modern story telling and I am happy for once to say I'm not sorry they made this movie. 8 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I think the best slasher movies has nudity in it and frankly between you me and the wall. Paris Hilton is all flash, she's not good enough as an actress to convince anyone without getting naked, she did that lame home-made video but won't get naked in real movie. Either lose the clothes or learn to act. 7 STARS.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ HOUSE OF WAX (A house made of wax is such a cool visual.)
+ STORY (The story works well.)
+ GORE (Plenty of gore without it overshadowing the plot.)
+ CAST (Most of the cast does a great job.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (MISSES):

- NO COMPARISON (There is no comparison to the original movie. The original will always be the best. But this stands out on it's own.)
- PARIS HILTON (It's time Paris Hilton gets off her high horse and shows some skin or get out of acting. She's not good enough of an actress and I'm tired of this flavor of the month.)

- FAN BASED (If you love the original story you may enough it, but if you aren't a fan of gore then this isn't the movie for you.)
